Welcome to Sweezey Lake (Norvell, MI)

The purpose of this site is to give the residents, visitors, families
and friends of the lake another way to visit Sweezey. This site
will try to provide a bit of information about the lake, its plant
and animal life, news about the people and properties that surround
it, and suggested ways to conserve and protect this wonderful place.
It will also assist the Sweezey Lake Association in providing the
membership with information about its meetings, rules and regulations,
and summer activities.

In a short time this site will also open a Sweezey Lake Online
Store. We will have various items and gifts that utilize the
new Sweezey Lake logo.

We also urge you to submit information, written articles, and

William Sweezey

One of the Early Pioneers of Norvell Township

by H.H. Raby
William Sweezey, "Uncle Bill" as we who knew him personally
used to call him, was one of the early pioneers of Michigan, and
was born on Long Island, NY, May 7, 1803. His parents, Jeremiah
and Dorotha (Bayliss) Sweezey were of the same place. William grew
up and sailed the salt waters as a ship captain until 1835.
